The Standing Committee
The Standing Committee leads and animates the Association during each two-year period between its general conferences. It is charged with oversight of the life of the Association during this period, bringing to effect any mandate it has been given by the biennial conference and taking whatever initiatives it deems most effective for realising the aims of the Association.
The Standing Committee operates under the leadership of its elected Chair, and is supported by a secretariat, executive officers, and personnel made available by the Marist Brothers, Marist Sisters and Marist Fathers. It meets formally up to four times per year and communicates through other means as appropriate.
The Committee organises, sponsors and supports a variety of conferences, programmes and projects for and among AMSA members, especially the biennial conference. It publishes Lavalla, the Association's journal, and other resources. It supports the annual sporting, cultural, leadership and other contacts among students of member schools.
The Committee's members are elected to include a broad cross-section of the Membership, while a majority of its members are heads of Member Schools, and a number are drawn from other leadership positions.
